Downtown American Diner, Nieuwmarkt 26, Amsterdam,

I opted for the simple "Classic Downtown Burger" which came with Cheddar cheese, tomato and onion for 7 Euro's and a obligatory beer. Service it must be said wasn't quick, took a while just for the beer, the Burger followed thankfully soon after and it was worth the wait, great quality patty, a real delicious and tasty snack for a just over a fiver in Sterling.

Had to get some food on board before 'attacking' the bars in The Dam, so we all thought "burgers? yeah!"

My friends were similarly impressed with their orders  (Black Angus Burger and Philadelphia Steak Burger)

H and H Burgers, Strode Road, Clevedon (opposite Asda)

Had a Burger here a few years ago when it was located on Teignmouth Road, the Burger Bar has moved to Asda car park and is now conveniently located opposite the store and is a joint that always seems to attract a lot of trade, easy to see why...

Lovely friendly staff and owner, I had a Bacon sarnie, tasty thick Bacon and nice fresh quality bread, with a piping hot cup of tea for around three quid.

Proper fodder for the those on the road.

Bro, Balluard 34, Barcelona, Spain

No frill Burger/sandwich joint, had the cheeseburger with bacon and salad, tasty burger served in a nice fresh bun, good value at around 6 Euros, the Fries were more like mini roast potatoes but tasty, and all served quickly with no fuss, my partner had the Mexican Burger which also got the thumbs up.

Makamaka, Passeig de Joan de Borbo, Barcelona, Spain

Popped in here for a drink and glanced at some of the meals being dished out which looked delicious, read some reviews on Trip Advisor so we gave it a go, and boy, we weren't disappointed. We both had the Big Maka (cheese and bacon burger) asked for two lots of fries, the waitress suggested we just order one portion, very thoughtful in retrospect!

Gorgeous thick beautifully cooked burger, loads of tasty bacon and cheese, lovely fries with skins on, plenty for two, friendly attentive service from all the lovely staff, I can't recommend the place high enough...

Schwartz Brothers, Saw Close, Bath.

I used to come here quite regularly back in the late 80's early 90's so returning here was a right nostalgia trip. Burgers still as tasty as I can vaguely remember they were back in the day, opted for the Blue Cheese Burger, tasty and hot, could have done with more cheese in my opinion, but a nice post pint snack to warm me up.

Atomic Burger, Gloucester Road, Bristol

As many online reviews had pointed out, the décor is quirky, lots of movie and tv memorabilia adorn the walls and ceilings, though it doesn't look tacky.

Service was good, drinks served quickly (Thatchers Cider and Sam Adams Boston beer, yeah!) and food was in front of our noses less than 15 mins after ordering.

I had the 'Jake & Elwood' Burger, which was a beef patty with Bacon, Blue cheese and fried onions, came with a side of very tasty fries, I recommend the mayo they have with the condiments, went very nice with said fries.

My only complaint was there was very little blue cheese, the taste was quite subtle, I like in smothered, though that's just my own personal taste, other than that a very enjoyable lunch.

Seven, Gourmet Burger House, Queens Road, Clevedon

It takes a brave man to open a 'Gourmet Burger' restaurant, off the beaten track (Queens Road) in a small town but that's just what someone did a month ago, and now I've finally got round to giving it a go.

There's two types of Burger on offer, the 'normal' menu, ranging from £1:25 for a basic burger, to £2:95 for a deluxe quarter pounder with Cheese, and the 'Gourmet' menu which start at £4:50 for a burger with just mayo and salad, and no chips, that's an extra quid!

I went for the Blue Cheese Melt, which as the name suggests comes with blue cheese, mayo and salad (mushrooms also but I didn't bother) The Burger looked and tasted good, good thickness well cooked, with some nice fries, that's where the plaudits end though. The Blue Cheese was almost non-existent, you could barely taste it, the salad comprised two pieces of tomato and a tiny bit of lettuce, no onions, and for £5:50 this really isn't great value.

The restaurant doesn't take cards (this is the 21st Century ffs!), once served you are pretty much ignored, and when we left there was barely a murmur of thanks, dreadful customer service.

Carnaby Burger Company, 14, Foubert's Place, London

Stumbled upon this place on a flying visit to the big smoke one busy Friday night. Situated between Regent's Street and Carnaby Street the place looked busy and inviting so we thought we'd give it a go.

Right, the negatives first.
The service was slow, sit down...wait....eventually get a waiters attention, order food and drinks......wait.....drinks eventually turn up....wait....you can see your order by the grill.....wait...one of the orders arrives (you have to ask for cutlery) the waiter then takes someone else's order before getting the rest if your meal!!!!! (words were exchanged! )
Yes they were busy but this is the worst service I have received for years, very, very poor.

Now the food. I went for my old favourite Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger. It looked good, nice ciabatta roll, lettuce, tomato and red onion salad inside, it tasted sensational, incredibly tasty meat, subtle blue cheese sauce, lovely crispy bacon, I had a side of chips which I pretty much ignored, so good was the burger.

Yes the service was pants, but I'd go back tomorrow so good was the food.
(Probably the BEST burger I can remember tasting for a long, long time)

My partner had the Tex Mex Burger (jalapenos, guacamole, bacon) and she was also blown away by the quality!

Stunning food.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Park Street, Bristol

I last visited this GBK some time ago and was impressed then, so armed with a BOGOF voucher a visit on a nice Sunny Autumn day seemed a good idea.
I went for the Blue Cheese Burger, a medium cooked slice of Bovine with lettuce, relish and a Blue Cheese sauce plus some Rosemary Fries for a side. The Burger was a delight, incredibly tasty, nice crisp lettuce and a Blue Cheese sauce to die for. The Fries were tasty too, though at over £2 a portion a little over priced I thought.

Service was excellent from the staff, attentive without being over baring.

All in all pretty much faultless.

McDonalds, Portishead

This wasn't planned, honest.

After a hideous Rustlers experience earlier in the day, another Burger really wasn't on the menu, but you know us truckers. So we end up in Portishead, end of the shift with time to kill, so it's either break the bank at Gordano Services or the cheap McD option in town. Now I usually opt for the cheap 'n cheerful 1/4 Pounder option but saw that the 'Big 'N Tasty' was back on the menu (over a fiver though) go on then you bad boy! And 'Big 'N Tasty' it was too, piping hot, nice meaty Burger, lovely sauce, lashings of salad, all accompanied by fries and washed down with a Coca Cola....oh my poor arteries!

(N.B This meal turned out to be a bargain as they had to cook it from scratch, forgot the order and gave me the meal and a refund when I complained-kerching!)

Burger King, Sovereign Centre, Weston-Super-Mare

Well it's my first BK in some time due to being off work, probably my first in about 10 weeks, so I opt for my favourite, the Bacon Double Cheeseburger XL.

The Burger is freshly cooked there and then, always a plus point at BK, piping hot, but it must be said after a few bites it's quite a dry Burger. The meal came with Fries which were fine, could have done with a sprinkle of salt to liven them up though. I got to the final few bites of the Burger and I was done. It was too bloating due to the slight dryness and slightly disappointing it must be said, especially as the whole meal was over six quid!

The Burger Joint,Cotham Hill, Bristol

After reading the positive reviews myself and my partner decided to give this place a go one Sunday afternoon.

The interior of the restaurant is welcoming, light, uncluttered and clean. The Waitress who dealt with us was outstanding, friendly, helpful, quick but unhurried service.

I opted for a Beef Burger with, Blue Cheese, Bacon and Garlic mayo with French Fries- delicious, all served with a cold bottle of Corona and an ice cold GLASS-why do so many establishments fail with this simple idea!

My partner had the Chicken Burger with Cheddar, Bacon, Garlic Mayo and thick cut chips, again excellent.

Highly recommended, and they do takeaways too.
